Droncit is a trusted single-dose tapeworm treatment for dogs and cats. Each tablet contains 50mg praziquantel to control tapeworm infections, including hydatid tapeworm in dogs.

What Droncit Treats

  • Dogs: Flea tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum), Hydatid tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus), Sheep measles (Taenia ovis), False hydatid (Taenia hydatigena), Rabbit tapeworm (Taenia pisiformis), Zipper tapeworm (Spirometra erinacei).
  • Cats: Flea tapeworm (Dipylidium caninum), Cat tapeworm (Taenia taeniaeformis), Zipper tapeworm (Spirometra erinacei).

Dosage & Administration

Give as a single oral dose. No fasting required. Always weigh your animal before dosing.

Species Bodyweight Tablets Approx. Dose Dog 10kg 1 tablet ~5mg/kg Cat 5kg tablet ~5mg/kg

Standard dose: 5mg/kg (dogs & cats). Dog = 1 tablet per 10kg. Cat = tablet per 5kg.

Higher Dose for Zipper Tapeworm

If tapeworm segments continue to appear after standard treatment, they may be Spirometra. A higher dose (4 standard = 20mg/kg; 1 tablet per 2.5kg) is requiredseek veterinary advice before using the high dose.

Treatment Frequency

  • Dogs in hydatid areas: Dose every 6weeks and prevent access to raw offal or carcasses.
  • Other situations (dogs & cats): Dose every 3months, or as directed by your vet.
  • Treat sooner if tapeworm segments are seen.

Safety

  • Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-purging at recommended doses.
  • Safe for puppies, kittens, pregnant & lactating females, older pets, working dogs and greyhounds.
  • May be given with most other parasite control products.

Important Use Notes

  • Droncit removes existing tapeworms but does not prevent re-infestation.
  • Control intermediate hosts: fleas, rodents, raw offal access, etc.
  • If worm problems persist, consult your veterinarian.

First Aid & Storage

If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre (Australia 131126). Store below 30C. Dispose of empty packaging in household garbage.
