EQUIMEC Paste is a powerful, broad-spectrum oral wormer designed specifically for horses. Containing 18.7 g/kg ivermectin, it provides reliable treatment and control of a wide range of internal parasites and bots including those resistant to other wormers. What it Treats
EQUIMEC Paste is effective against:
- Large strongyles including Strongylus vulgaris (adults and arterial larval stages), S. edentatus, S. equinus, Triodontophorus spp., Craterostomum acuticaudatum
- Small strongyles including benzimidazole-resistant strains
- Pinworms Oxyuris equi (adult and immature)
- Roundworms (Ascarids) Parascaris equorum
- Hairworms Trichostrongylus axei
- Stomach worms Habronema muscae
- Neck threadworms Onchocerca spp. (microfilariae)
- Lungworms Dictyocaulus arnfieldi
- Intestinal threadworms Strongyloides westeri
- Bots Gasterophilus spp. (oral and gastric stages)
- Summer sores and cutaneous onchocerciasis caused by larval stages of Habronema, Draschia, and Onchocerca
Who It’s For
EQUIMEC Paste is suitable for:
- Horses of all ages
- Foals from 68 weeks of age
- Mares at any stage of pregnancy
- Breeding stallions (does not affect fertility)
Note: This product is for horses only. Do not use in other animals.
How to Use
- Administer orally using the included syringe.
- Each syringe treats one 600kg horse.
- Use the plunger markings to dose accurately based on bodyweight (1.07g per 100kg).
- Ensure the horses mouth is free of feed before dosing.
- Raise the horses head briefly after administration to ensure the full dose is swallowed.
How Often to Use
Since reinfection is common, routine treatment is essential. EQUIMEC is ideal for use in a strategic parasite control program particularly in horses at risk of colic or verminous arteritis from S. vulgaris. Foals, mares, and yearlings should receive special attention.

Safety and Side Effects
- Wide safety margin at recommended dose levels
- Occasional mild swelling or itching may occur, usually linked to heavy infestations of Onchocerca microfilariae
- These signs generally resolve within a few days consult your vet if they persist
- Meat withholding period: Do not use less than 21 days before slaughter
